Auburn, Ala. - Junior midfielder Katy Frierson has been named the Southeastern Conference women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Frierson, from Homewood, scored the game-winner as Auburn upset No. 5 Florida State, 3-2, in double overtime on Friday night, putting the ball in the net with just 2:57 left in the second overtime. The goal was the third game-winner for her this season and the 10th of her career, which is just one shy of the school record. She also added an assist against the Seminoles.
Frierson followed that up with a goal in Auburn’s 3-0 win over Western Carolina on Sunday to give her a goal in three consecutive contests.
With her two goals and an assist over the weekend, Frierson now has 18 career goals, 20 career assists and 56 career points.
Frierson currently leads the SEC with 11 points, is tied for second with four goals and tied for third with three assists.
Auburn (4-1-0) returns to action on Friday, Sept. 10 when it faces Southern California in Los Angeles at 5:30pm CT.
