MILWAUKEE, Wis. (February 7, 2011) – From the almost 90 clubs that applied for membership, the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) has announced the addition of 14 clubs for the 2011-12 season, increasing the total number of ECNL member clubs to 66.

The clubs granted membership for the 2011-12 season are:

Gwinnett Soccer Association (Ga.)

Penn Fusion Soccer Academy (Pa.)
Richmond Strikers (Va.)
So Cal Blues (Calif.)
Sockers FC (Ill.)
TSC Hurricanes (Okla.)
World Class FC (N.Y./N.J.)


The 66 ECNL member clubs will be separated into eight regional conferences as the ECNL expands to a full 25- to 30-game season in 2011-12. Conference alignments will be released in the coming weeks.

“For the second year in a row, we have added some tremendous clubs to the ECNL, each with great leadership and history in developing soccer players,” said ECNL President Christian Lavers. “We are very excited about the regional conference structure that is being created for the 2011-12 season for all of the ECNL member clubs, and feel it will have a tremendous impact on player development in all our markets.”

Acceptance decisions were based on a variety of different factors, including: 1) long-term club history in female soccer, 2) long-term history in development of female soccer players, 3) club leadership and management structure and 4) geographical considerations.  

“These decisions are always very difficult, and there are a lot of very good soccer clubs and leaders in this country,” said ECNL Vice President Doug Bracken. “With the 14 clubs that we have added, and the expansion in our schedule, we feel that the ECNL is in a wonderful position to positively impact youth female soccer for years to come.”

“We are very excited about joining the ECNL for 2011-12,” said Hassan Naziri, Director of Coaching for the Dallas Texans. “The ECNL has created a competitive environment for talented players to develop even further. The Dallas Texans believe that the ECNL, with their sponsor Nike, will create an even brighter future for young women to become their best and reach their full potential.”

The full 2011-12 ECNL schedule, including dates and locations for the ECNL national events, will be released in April.


About the ECNL:
The ECNL is a non-profit national youth soccer league founded in 2009 to provide the best possible developmental environment for American female youth soccer players through the creation of the highest level of national competition and an identification and development program to provide an avenue for players to participate in U.S. Soccer’s National Teams. Each of the 66 member clubs in 2011-2012 will have a team in the U-14, U-15, U-16, U-17, and U-18 age groups, each competing for the ECNL National Championship and the ECNL National Club Championship. The ECNL is sanctioned by US Club Soccer and sponsored by Nike.

The Advanced Training Program (ATP) was implemented in the Fall 2010 to provide our younger players a higher level of training during their recreational season. The goals of ATP are to help the young individual player learn and refine the basic techniques of the game and then add and introduce advanced skills when the players show they are ready.  There were over 70 players involved this past fall and each of these players increased their skill level and knowledge of the game.

The spring 2011 program begins February 4th at 4:30 PM @ both Rathmell and Sportsblast field locations.  We would encourage anyone who did not play ATP in the fall to come out to open ATP tryouts on both Friday February 4th and Friday February 11th at 4:30 PM.  These tryouts are free and these sessions will allow players the benefit of seeing the new ATP program first hand.

]]> http://www.birminghamunited.com/home/492687.html NIKE WOMEN'S COLLEGE CAMP (April 30-May 1) 02/10/2011 05:32 PM http://www.birminghamunited.com/home/496224.html BUSA will again be holding it’s Nike Women’s College Camp for any players that desire to play at the next level. We will have coaches on hand from Division I, II and III programs. Over the past several years this camp has proven to be very productive for future college players and college coaches alike. Players will train with several college coaches as well as be observed during the games. Although we have run a 7v7 format in the past, we will go with 11v11 games this year. College coaches have commented that it gives them a better idea of a player’s performance on the field. 

The BUSA College Camp is structured to give college coaches multiple opportunities to see players perform in training and game settings. A large number of players have been recruited through being seen at our camp the past few years. We provide the venue, you provide the talent!
 
Camp is open to any High School age players but space is limited. Applications will be accepted on a first come basis. All players will receive a camp shirt with a unique number for easy identification by the college coaches. Players will also have the opportunity to have their profiles available for the coaches to review and submit to the profile book.

Janea Simpson

Simpson joins the Crimson Tide from Life Christian Academy and Tuscaloosa County High School. She was named the 2008 MVP at Tuscaloosa County High School and played club soccer for the Birmingham United Soccer Association in Birmingham for eight seasons under Andrew Brower. Simpson also played on the Region III ODP squad and participated in the Region III Interregional Camp.

"Janea Simpson is a player that people are going to love around here," Bramble said. "It's interesting because she is not really well known in Tuscaloosa, surprisingly because she played all of her soccer in Birmingham. She grew up playing soccer for the Birmingham United Soccer Association. They did an outstanding job with her development. She went to Tuscaloosa County High but devoted all her energy to her development to the highest level she could find which club soccer in the Olympic Development Program was."

Simpson was an eight-time state champion with her club team and was a four-year Final Four Showcase participant. She was also named to the 2009 ECNL Chicago Eclipse All-Tournament team. In the classroom she is a member of the FCLA and Interact in high school. Janea is the daughter of Terry and Vickie Simpson and has one brother, Jonathan (22).

Laura Lee Smith

"Janea has been a fierce competitor for our BUSA 93 ECNL team the past few seasons," Coach Brower said. "Her ability to dominate the left flank in the attack has helped to create tons of goals, and even more assists for our team. Janea thrives in important matches and lives for producing key goals in the most important matches. Her tenacity in the game is unsurpassed and she will thrive being a part of the University of Alabama program day in and day out. We will look for big things from her, and expect to her be a terror to SEC opponents for the next four years."

Smith comes to Tuscaloosa from Jackson Preparatory School in Jackson, Miss., where she was named the 2010 Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year and a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist. Smith played for Coach Jon Marcus Duncan where she was named MVP of her 2008 and 2011 teams and Best Offensive Player in 2009 and 2010. Smith is a four-time Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) All-Conference Player (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011) and led her team to the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 MAIS State Championships. Smith also cracked the Topdrawersoccer.com Top 100 Recruiting list by checking in at No. 95.

"Laura Lee Smith is the Gatorade Player of the Year from Mississippi as well as an outstanding student," Bramble said. "She is also a national merit scholar. These are the type of student-athletes we want in our program. She is also an attacking player who we can expect to come in and compete right away."

She was also named the MAIS All-Star Game South MVP in 2010 and a Jackson Clarion-Ledger First-Team All-State selection in 2010. Smith garnered Clarion-Ledger Player of the Week honors in 2009 and 2010 and was a member of the Birmingham United Soccer Association that won the 2009 and 2010 Alabama State Championship under coach Andrew Brower. She was also a member of the Elite Clubs National League, attended the 2010 ECNL National Championships in Seattle, Wash. Along with teammate Janea Simpson, she was a member of the 92 Region III ODP pool. Off the pitch she was also a standout track athlete where she was named Varsity MVP in 2008 and 2010, Best In Field in 2010, MAIS 100m State Champion in 2009 and 2010, MAIS 200m State Champion in 2008, 2009, 2010 and holds school records in 100m Dash, 200m Dash, 400m Relay, 800m relay. After enrolling at Alabama she was named a UA Presidential Scholar.

"Laura Lee is a complete soccer player," Coach Duncan said. "Her understanding of the game along with her skill and athleticism helped her in her success as a high school player. Laura Lee definitely has a passion for soccer and becoming a better player at the next level."
