TOPSOCCER UPDATE (3/27/12)

Dear TOPSoccer family,

Our first season is about to begin. We hope you are as excited as we are! I know that you have been long awaiting some details regarding our opening day and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. Please keep in mind that this is our first season for TOPSoccer so we appreciate your patience as we work out all of the kinks.

Here is the schedule for Opening Day events – Sunday, April 1st:
• 2:15 – Players arrive at SportsBlast Field #5 to check in. Players will receive uniform as well as team assignments. Balls will be provided.
• 2:45 – Players & buddies will be paired and introduced giving the two time to get acquainted
• 3:00 Practice/game begins

Since uniforms are being provided on the same day as our first game, players are welcome to wear a t-shirt and shorts to play in or they may change before game time. Please do whatever is easiest for your player. Soccer cleats are not required, but players do need to wear tennis shoes.

Games will take place at 3:00 on the following Sunday afternoons: 4/1, 4/15, 4/22, 4/29, 5/6, and 5/20.
In the event of rain on our opening day, we will post field closings on the weather hotline. Please be sure to check often if rain is in the forecast. The number is (205)969-8729.

Ages U4-U19/Fee $30*

(born between 8/1/1992 and 7/31/2008)

General Information: BUSA’s TOPSoccer program is designed to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth of kids with special needs through soccer. The program is open to children in the U4-U19 age group with any physical or mental disability.

· Teams will be formed based on player needs and not necessarily by age.

· Teams will be formed by March 26, 2012. Players will be contacted after this date by email.

· Each player will be paired with a buddy. (MORE BUDDIES ARE NEEEDED!! PLEASE PASS ALONG!!)

· Buddies are needed for TOPSoccer teams. Buddies must be 16 years of age or older. Please complete the Buddy Permission Form/application if interested in being a buddy or other type volunteer.

· Games/practices will begin the week of April 1, 2012.

· Games and practices are combined and will be played on Sunday afternoons.

· All games/practices will be played at The SportsBlast Complex on Hwy 280. Field directions are available on the BUSA website www.birminghamunited.com

· The $30 registration fee includes a soccer ball, jersey, shorts and player insurance.

· All players will need to bring a water bottle, soccer cleats or tennis shoes. Shin guards are optional.

· GAME Dates: 4/1, 4/15 ,4/22, 4/29, 5/6, 5/20 (medal ceremony) Times will be announced.
